Aka my gun ADD in one photo.

The problem with impulse buying parts on sale or clearance.

I really need to figure out what I want to actually build.

Seems that an A2ish rifle might be it.

A barrel and lower parts kit may be a good start. Charging handle and BCG would be nice, too. That long buffer may lock you into a longer barrel. It's a process and you've made a good start!

Is that silver cylinder a Gas Block?

    ALG handguard?

Yep, that’s an interesting selection of parts. To me it looks like about three rifles.
-Upper starts the A2 type build.
-Gas tube and FSB for a carbine clone.
-ALG Handguard and Aero lower for a nice modern build.

Get two more lowers, a couple barrels and some LPKs and have a party.

The stock and carry handle alone are gonna make it look like a stock or modded A2 if all this is all used on one rifle, methinks

I like the multi-rifle idea better...

It's the barrel nut for that handguard. You're right, I still need a few major components.

    ALG handguard?

Yes. 8" keymod I bought on clearance because I knew I'd want to do a pistol build.

One rifle would be a mess but kind of amusing.

I like the multi rifle idea.

I'm thinking the A2 upper and Stock will be the start of either a 16" dissipator or 20" rifle build.

The handguard a pistol: I'm between three cartridges on that, .22 LR, 5.56 or .300 BLK.

I did just order a BCM Mod 3 grip and two Sons of Liberty blaster lower parts kits.

    Need more parts...

That's what I paid during their Easter sale. Good to know that's consistent. I'll see what black Friday holds.

I found a detent spring on the floor that flew away months ago. Can’t let it go to waste, gotta build another.
    ^^^
This is the BEST reason I have ever heard to start another build.

"But honey, I found a detent spring... i HAVE to build another rifle. It would be silly to NOT build one..."

The rifle buffer isn't going to lock you into any particular barrel length, as long as its properly gassed.

A2s are neat and all, but A1's are the real shit

    Yes.
The elegant full butt-stock and triangular Model 603 hand guards are just classic beauty.

One step more retro is to go without the foreword assist.
I have the Colt SP1 as original and don't plan to change. It is identical (other than select fire) as the originals the USAF started issuing back when I was in. No forward assist.
