I inherited a 1948 Winchester Model 12 (20 gauge mod. choke) about a year ago. I decided to finally take it out and shoot it a few weeks ago. Of course, it shoots great.
It looks like it's never been disassembled, so I thought I would try to clean it up. I'll be honest, I don't know jack shit about shotguns. I had no idea they were so complex!
So with a little research online I was able to break it down. I am struck my how deep the tool marks are. I guess right after WW2 the finish of internal parts was not worth worrying about.
I've just started cleaning it up so the parts will be cleaner when I'm done.
