My dad may, or may not have KO’d a Marine MP ( or whatever the Marine version of MP is) when he was involved in a bar brawl with a bunch of communists in France back in the late 1950s. Several groups of MPs were apparently sent out to corral a bunch of young airmen that were “being disruptive”
Dad was able to get out through a kitchen door with a couple of other guys in his unit and avoid charges.
He would not have backed down from it for sure.

Mine, post WWII, was in a mining town in North/South Dakota. Three miners ran the town. He fought all three at once. They no longer ran the town, and he never had to pay for a drink in that town again.
