I grew up in New Orleans and spent a lot of time fishing for redfish, speckled trout, drum, and flounder. Since moving to Texas 7 years ago I haven't done much fishing.

Recently I have discovered the world of bass fishing. Granted, it is fishing a very small pond 400 yards on the other side of 6 neighbor's houses, but it's fishing. I have caught several decent sized bass, and a couple crappie. I have Bass Fever now and go every chance I get. I work retail hours selling boats for Bass Pro Shops, so I fish for an hour before I head to work.

My wife has a community app on her phone so she can follow the goings on in our neighborhood. This is a recent thread on the Facebook style discussion board:

    Gunz are icky.
A killer lure for small pond fishing are the little spinner type with the multi colored weight.
The 1/8oz with the bright orange body/dark red feather tail slams them.

    Thanks for the tip.

Most of my fish have been on darker green plastic worms.

I'll pick one up tomorrow and see what it gets me.

Try small worms in the color calle Junebug. Spinners in white or firetiger. If there are Crappie and Bass, there are probably Bluegills too. Lots of fun on an ultralight spinning rod. Tasty too.

    Pond fishing.
Use a spinner bait similar to the one depicted.
I'd go for a lime green skirt myself.
Retrieve with the rod tip up high.
Control the speed so the blade creates a ripple on the water surface, but doesn't break the surface.

MK, I see that crap a lot on a few local social media outlets.

"This is not normal to me. Should I call the law?" How about no. How about you mind your own business if it isn't hurting anything.

It can be entertaining to mess with those people though.

MK, it would seem that your neighbors need to see you fishing in your underwear. Bunch of freaking busybodies. "Should I call the law" really?

    Is he really fishing...

I have seen this a lot recently. It's like folks can no longer tell what people are doing or if something is real. I blame TV. I have been asked if fire is real. It's hot isn't it? If my blue spotted dog was really a tiger. Or if my pet ferret was a lizard. It has hair! Well, dinosaurs probably had hair. Wait, you know about the theory that dinosaurs had "feathers" but you can't identify a mammal?

Kudos on using the pond. Fishing is a great way to relax.

They are probably shocked to see anyone not watching reality TV or sitting on FB and actually getting out in to the real world.

Highly suspicious activity in their minds.

Or a buzzbait, when the water is flat. Nothing beats catching fish on topwater lures. :)

FYI, the TPWD stocks trout in local ponds all over Texas. Check out their website. I used to take my kids. Lite tackle is in order, as the fish are fairly small. A can of whole kernal corn on a tiny hook works best.
