I know there are age restrictions on the purchase of firearms and on getting a LTC in Texas but are there any age restrictions on the possession of a firearm (handgun or long gun) in my vehicle or even just in my possession in general?

Shotgun/rifle unloaded or loaded in plain view or concealed
    Edit: law changed in 2007

Handguns must be concealed unless licensed to carry and in shoulder or belt holster.

Vehicle carry without license is legal must be concealed, and vehicle must be under own control and possession; but firearms left in vehicle is a bad idea because of theft. It is also illegal to purchase handgun ammunition under 21

Shotgun/rifle yes, has to be unloaded and ammunition separate from driver.

If over 21 and in own vehicle, castle law applies, but firearms left in vehicle is a bad idea because of theft. It is also illegal to purchase handgun ammunition under 21

What planet are you from? Carry what you want in your vehicle, handguns hidden, rifles and shotguns don't matter. Both can be loaded. Oh, over 18....

18 for handgun, but no age with written permission of guardian. See 46.06.

Similar for Fed Law but gun must be cased, etc. during transport. see 922(x)(3).

Thanks man, I read the TX code and Fed code and that was what I was looking for. The 46.06 just isn't very specific about the conditions, as a minor with guardian's consent, whether I can carry a weapon(s) (long gun or handgun) in my vehicle cased/uncased, loaded/unloaded, concealed/open. The way I see it as long as I do what it says and not worry about what it doesn't say I should be fine right?
