Before osama and obama, I didn't mind air travel.
Now, I despise it.
Oh yea....the luggage secret.
If it doesnt go in your backpack...it doesnt go.
.....
So, close proximity or early arrival...
Minimal accoutrement...
Enter airport & straight through short security line (early)
Stop at Mickey D's or Blasto O'rourkes bar (am or pm)
Easy on...easy off...
Enjoy your flight
The wife and I did Hawaii and another week on the westcoast out of one (small) backpack. Now I admit, 2 people for 2 weeks, we did stop and wash once, but traveling light is a big key.
Wow...did NOT know that one. Great tip. Also, on the topic of early arrival - need to give a shout-out for Minute Suites. Starting to see them in a couple locations (DFW has one in Terminal D). Small private (lockable) suite with bed/table/TV/power/internet/etc., right in the middle of the Terminal. Truly epic, hope to see them become more common.
Not free, but you can lock the room with stuff in it and use the one down the hall. Pretty sure they have their own shower/head, but has additional cost.Wow...did NOT know that one. Great tip.
Restroom?
I didn't mind air travel right after Osama. I had to fly a lot in the weeks right after 9/11 and there was quite a period when the airports were virtually empty and a half-dozen people on a plane was an unusually high number. Before osama and obama, I didn't mind air travel.

Since then, things have gone to hell. Last time I needed to go to California, I actually drove. I could take guns, all the luggage I wanted, I had my transportation while I was there...the advantages were numerous. I'm pretty convinced that inside CONUS, I'll drive. Planes, for me, are for crossing oceans.
