Dogs can be endearing, but come with responsibilities.

Too many of today, especially yuppies, have dogs, but shirk the responsibilities; both to the dog and to their neighbors.

They are part of the ‘’Entitled Generation‘’, whom society has given privileges, without any accompanying responsibilities.

They demand gasoline without oil wells; want their foods without Farmers, safety without Police. . . . . .

I prefer dogs to most people. They love you unconditionally and have no ulterior motives. There is no better feeling than coming home after being gone for an hour to a dog that is just beside herself with happiness when I walk through that door. She acts as though I had been gone for years. My wife never gets that exited when I come home. Of course, I don't give her treats and let her lick my face.

    Don't own a dog.
I'm owned by a four wheel drive, best friend and companion ...

The wife's nephew saw combat in Iraq & Afghanistan. He now is a dog trainer simply because he has problems dealing with most of society. Probably one of the smartest things he could do.

This is true. I know a couple who lived in a small 1 bdr apartment and had a Pyrenees; both worked full time and I wondered what the poor dog did all day. Another family has three large dogs and a cat in the house and, between work, school and sports they are gone 60 hours a week. They never take the dogs anywhere. Don't get it.

I have two mutt dogs now and these are 3 previous. I am minus one he died at a bad time and I was just lost. We didn't save him like the others and it's bothered me ever since. It's definitely not easy.

alot of somewheres I read having a dog lick your wound makes it heal faster because they have a natural antiseptic in their saliva... just saying...

Pretty sure that's an old wive's tail..... all my docs tell me not to let the dog lick wound, that their mouths are dirtier than a human's.... which is pretty damn dirty. (Ask a cunning linguist) ;-)
