So my observation about a group of neighbors organizing themselves, arming themselves AFTER A SEVERE STORM for THEIR NEIGHBORHOOD DEFENSE is NOT a good example of the LEGITIMATE USE of "common militia", in your opinion??
Post-hurricane (frankly, I don't remember which one) when my neighborhood was cut off for 3 days and there was no power for over a week, the militia came together organically. Set up a table at the sole entrance to the subdivision and anyone who didn't live there got escorted to their destination and vetted by the resident they came to see. There were multiple cases of cars full of young men whose appearance inspired zero confidence that they were an asset to the community pulling up to the entrance, seeing 3 to 5 armed residents at the table, slowly doing a u-turn, and leaving. Constables stopped by and thanked us for watching over the neighborhood so they could look after things elsewhere. We had armed foot patrols. We checked on the folks who we knew needed oxygen or had chronic illnesses.

As I say, it came together organically. One or two people started the foot patrols and knocking on doors to check on folks. Within a few houses, the idea of setting up the table at the entrance was brought up and after a couple of cell calls, they were on duty. With more volunteers than work, a relief schedule implemented.

When it was over, we all went back to normality. I'm sure we'll come together again if the need arises.

From every angle, I'd call that a legit militia deployment.

The word Militia was forever ruined by that psycho Mcveigh.

It will never be reclaimed by the righteous.
KJQ6945,

The word "MILITIA" will always be "dirtied up" by the LEFTIST HATERS until DECENT FOLK reclaims/embraces the term again.

EACH & EVERY time that some LEFTIST idiot says something "nasty & hateful" about the COMMON MILITIA, you should ask them: WHO do YOU expect to protect your loved ones after a severe emergency, when there are NO police available & until peace is restored??

yours, satx

benenglish; All,

What you posted is what happened in the wake of HUGO. - NOBODY asked for the organization of the local volunteer defense groups = The "local folks" SAW A CRITICAL NEED & filled it, W/O either a "call out" by an official agency or expectation of APPLAUSE. = They did WELL, imVho.

NOTE: Within 12 hours, a "nice older lady", "on her own nickel" & w/o being asked, "sewed up" enough RED & BLUE armbands to "outfit the 'Old Marine's LDG'. = NICE lady, imo.
(MY red/white/blue armband with the "Team B" commo insignia is framed with my "ham call" baseball cap, on my den wall, "in a place of honor".)

yours, satx

On another note: though I do not agree with Axxe55’s outlook on militias, it’s his opinion and he’s a good guy in my book. We all have those events that happen in life that put a shit taste in our mouth.

I think what can be agreed on is the legality of militia being fine under good intentions. Intentions that protect free speech for example. People may vote to take our guns and voice away but until they physically attempt to do it, a militia cannot act.
What if no laws are ever "emplamented" but just becomes the norm of acceptance?

I mean we are seeing the 1st stripped with big tech blocking conservative speach. The 2nd is being manipulated by the the ATF. ALL WITH NO LAWS BEING PASSED.

Because the sad fact is, even people on the right, the conservatives are put off by the term "militia". Way too many home grown idiots started a militia, and many of them were pretty much hardcore right-wing radicals. Some even subscribe and preach white supremacist ideology. And that turns off a lot of people regardless of what side of the political aisle they may be on.

Some of these home-grown militias are idiots, and some of them are just outright dangerous haters. Like I said, I want no part of any of it.

Theres 2 main militias in Texas that ive seen.

The Texas State Militia & the Texas Militia. If you go to their webpages you can see they are completely different on the requirements for its memebers. One seems more organized & the other...not so much.

GREAT. - PLEASE STAY HOME when that VERY BAD DAY comes, when COMMON MILITIA is CRITICALLY NEEDED to do R&R, protect the innocents of society from the LOOTERS & COMMON CRIMINALS & do other CRITICAL ACTIONS to restore the peace.

We volunteers do NOT NEED nor WANT those persons who don't want to help minimize the damage, help us restore order and/or won't take direction from other volunteers.
(As for me & my family "we will be out on the frontline" doing whatever we can to help make the effects of the NATURAL/MANMADE EMERGENCY less terrible in our community.)
