so I just purchased a Smith and Wesson sigma series in .40 Smith and Wesson. I was wondering what you guys recommend for a good home defense round? range practice rounds? places to get decent prices on it? whats brands shoot cleaner? i currently have the lawman 180 gr tmj box of 50 that came with purchase, have heard some good reviews on it.

Speer Gold Dot 185 gr. HP for defense rounds as they're one of the top killing rounds. For practice I generally fire WWB FMJ but occasionally will shoot some Lawman HP.

For practice, the Winchester White Box 165 grain round (packaged in a 100 round value box) can't be beat for economy or reduced perceived recoil.

For Home Defense, consider the Federal 135 grain HST round. They can still be found at some Wal Marts and online for as little as $23 for a box of fifty.

No matter which defensive load you choose, make sure you test it at a range to ensure it works reliably in your gun and hits whatever you are aiming at.
