i just did a google search and got nothing - and then took a thorough glance at foxnews.com and didn't see anything

i think until the NRA barks about this - it's not a news story

    just my opinion

no offense - while i'm not a huge fan of the mainstream media - i am always suspicious of news reported by these other "news sources"

until i see it on cnn.com or foxnews or one of the other biggies - i'm leary

And now, First Data Corporation is trying to save its own ass due to the huge amount of debt it has.

    KKR-Owned First Data to Suspend 401(k) Contributions - WSJ.com

First Data also has lost business to rivals and was saddled with about $22 billion in debt at the end of 2012.

The story in the OP, dated 2008, doesn't seem to have affected too many people. From between that time frame to 2011, I bought a lot of guns online. Neither of my 2 credit cards was affected by First Data Corporation though so I had no problems whatsoever.

it is not "visa" it is a processor for online transactions and they already found a replacement

    Statement about Authorize.net

As reported by Grass Roots North Carolina, credit card gateway Authorize.net has indeed refused to continuing doing business with us simply because we sell guns. We urge all of you who shop online to boycott any web site displaying the Authorize.net or Cybersource logo. We have since switched to a gun-friendly provider that offers all of the same security features you'd expect

I was reading about this on akfiles. Apparently its's visa that is denying gun based processing, I have yet to have any credit card charges be denied for any reason.
