Data from the United States Census Bureau shows that nearly 18.5 million children grow up without their fathers, which has in return led to the United States owning the title of the world’s leader in fatherlessness.

Approximately 80% of single-parent homes are led by single mothers; therefore, leading to nearly 25% of our youth growing up without a father in the home.

When I was in ROTC back in the 70s, we had a speaker on race relations come talk to us. One of the things he said is that in the black community a child isn't considered fatherless if he knows who his father is. Having kids gets a bigger welfare check. Having dad in the house lowered the check. It was often a business decision.

Welfare never incentivized marriage, much like Planned Parenthood never incentivized parenting.
Government hacks were teaching people how to scam the system as well.

I can remember when there were people on welfare many years ago, and they were ashamed and embarrassed to be on welfare. Now we have 2nd and 3rd generations that are on welfare and proud of it.

I have long held the belief that many of the welfare and social programs need to be eliminated, or at the very least radically over-hauled because of all the scamming of the system that exists.

So I have two 'adult' daughters that almost never talk to me about 'meaningful' things. and at least 6 or 7 other guys and girls that I sorta fostered who call me 'pops' and lived in my home at various times because of abusive situations. and all of my pets are foundlings. and I still feel like I didn't do my best for them because all I ever felt able to do was warn them about the evil world and not to do what I did. makes me wonder why they think I deserve a father's day brunch. just saying.

I had a neighbor that said he fathered 8 children.
5 he claimed, the others he said he was a donor.
Some years ago, ran into a guy I use to run around with and went to high school with, and hadn't seen him in years. Kind of cut ties because I went away from the juvenile antics and had responsibilities to take care of. "Doug" was just one of those people that never grew up and took any responsibility for his actions, many times it led to him being in jail and even prison a few times.

Where I ran into him was at my brother's shop in town, and "Doug" comes up to me, proudly proclaiming his new girlfriend is pregnant! (Imagine my surprise that he knocked up some other skank he met while probably doing drugs.)

Me: "Gee, that's great Doug. Another kid is just what you need when you aren't even taking care of the other four of five little Dougies running around!"
Women share the blame in this. How many women today are raising their daughters to know how to be a good wife when they've never been married.

Even back in the 70's the welfare system favored the single parent. While I was looking for a job in 79 I was on welfare for a couple months. Had my wife not been married to me, she would have gotten a lot more in assistance for her and my daughter than we received. It was one of the worst experiences in my life, the case worker acted as though I was taking it out of her pocket.

Kind of supports my opinions that youngsters growing up without a father figure or a strong positive male role model in their lives is a bad thing.
I believe that's actually been scientifically proven. Especially so for boys. While often times daughters gravitate towards fathers, and boys to mothers in an emotional sense, the boys do look to fathers as to what it's like to be a man.

    That place east of Waco....
Yesterday, I was at a training on teen suicide prevention. The guest "speaker" was a 17 y.o. boy in a dress and heels who led a walkout at his high school because they wouldn't let him use the girl's locker room. All that time, he talked about being afraid of bullies in the boy's room and how he had the support of "everyone" who walked out with him (because students wouldn't take advantage of that to skip classes, of course). But he never talked about how the girls felt about having him in the locker room with him...or how he refused other attempts at accommodation for everyone's needs.....

.....guess which parent (who always wanted a daughter to spoil) was the custodial parent?

Momma raised a selfish jerk who is going to have a rough time in the real world.....
