I left socialist IL and moved here deliberately. Im extremely active politically. Id argue that people who live under oppression then leave are often some of the most vocal supporters of liberty once they escape.

I mean I understand that people dont like to see all these "foreigners" moving here but from what ive read about Texas history...it started off as a place where people went to escape and to try and make something.

    Where from in IL?

Then do your part to convert them.

I prefer to tell them to stay away.

    It's already too crowded

We multi-genners have it and the rest want it.
The rest show up and want to the multi-genners to conform
    What does that sound like?

I think the most important aspect is that population growth destroys.
Bringing more jobs in brings more people in.
More people moving in means more people where - rural areas that are filled with conservatives? Or suburbs and cities that are filled with people who are dependent on corporations and government?
Economic development is the big buzz for all governments. What it really means is more people in a given area, sprawl, more dependency critters, more soccer moms, and more people who think governments and corporations are how things are fixed.

We're screwed in the long run. Economic development expedites the process.

I view it as a good thing.

Well of course you do ... you weren't here when it was truly great.
