Yahoo. Now we just gotta make sure liberals don't follow Toyota down here...

They are already here. Wherever i see a California sticker, So Cal pride shirt I want to hulk smash. Texas saved you from your failed socialist state. Its almost like being big on being from Italy, Ireland or Mexico or whatever...OK...thats where you left...because its better here.

I know State Farm has been looking to make a big move up in Dallas but hasn't pulled the trigger yet.

Id like to see more manufacturing here. It would be really prudent for Austin to diversify its economy. Rooms full of server racks can easily move it on down the road to the next tech boomtown.

Mild sarcasm here, but how many socialist/progressives is Perry going to drag into Texas? I guess it is too much to hope that the SP's stay in the "paradise" they created out there when Toyota makes the move?

That's one of the concerns. Of course some of them will follow wherever the money goes and the fact that a portion of Texas (ahem...Austin...cough) is already turning blue helps make the transition a little more appealing for them. I applaud Gov. Perry for his effort in bringing more and more jobs to Texas but there's a price we might be paying in the future...

So, if you fear that companies moving their HQs and manufacturing plants to Texas turns us Blue, then wouldn't the converse be true for the state they left? Can we expect California to turn Red as their employers flee the socialist paradise? The answer to both questions is NO. Sapper's corollary: If Red State = Jobs and Jobs = Good then Red States = Good. Even the most hidebound idealogue (well, most) should eventually figure that out!

Wow. Even you 6th generation Texans had ancestors move here. We can look at it like they are going to piss in our pool or we can welcome them and turn them into Texans.

I agree. Not everyone hailing from California is a dyed-in-the-wool liberal. Many are conservatives looking for a better place to live and raise their children.

Well said. When I first moved to Texas I assumed that everyone with a Hispanic surname spoke Spanish and assumed I could improve my Spanish by speaking to them in their native tongue. I was surprised when I found out how few of them still speak Spanish or identify with "the old country". Most of them are proud Texans as all we immigrants soon become.

I left socialist IL and moved here deliberately. Im extremely active politically. Id argue that people who live under oppression then leave are often some of the most vocal supporters of liberty once they escape.

I mean I understand that people dont like to see all these "foreigners" moving here but from what ive read about Texas history...it started off as a place where people went to escape and to try and make something.
