Just moved back to TX (used to live in Austin but had to leave for work) and ended up in DFW.

I'm an avid ELR guy. Used to shoot to 3800+ yards every weekend but haven't been shooting in 6+ months. Wondering how many guys out there are shooting the big stuff and looking forward to meeting some that do. However, can't seem to find anywhere close to DFW that has the distance I shoot at.

Here is my rifle and specs...cause you can't post something like this and not post a pic right?

    Specs:
    Cadex Dual Strike Chassis
    Cadex Shadow CXD-40 Action
    375 Cheytac, K&P 36”, 1.5” straight barrel, 1:7 twist
    Terminator T5 Muzzle Brake
    Nightforce 7-35 Mil-C
    ERA-TAC Adjustable Mount 34mm / Height 30mm (1.85”) / Nuts 0-20 MRAD - T2074-0030
Charlie Tarac Macro - Scope Mount
    Triggertech Diamond Trigger
Accu-Tac HD-50 Bipod with Arca on Henderson Precision Universal 12” Arca Rail
    MDT Vertical Grip
    Cadex ELR Bag Rider
Peterson 375 Cheytac Brass, Cutting Edge 400gr Lazers, H50BMG

3800 yds? That's over two miles. Other than an elk hunt, I've never seen anything I wanted to shoot at that was over two miles away. Heck I can't even see two miles away anymore, unless it's about 100 feet tall.

Kudos to you, and good luck finding a piece of property to shoot at that will accommodate that range!

Good luck finding a place to shoot that.

I got rid of my 338 Lapua because I couldn't shoot it anywhere. The 1k yard range somewhat near me closed down years ago and most other ranges don't even allow it.

My current range has no caliber restrictions but only goes to 500 yards.

    Very nice rifle though.

Best bet would have been Triple C, but it’s gone now.

I heard it a place way down in south Texas a while back but don’t remember the name. Had no intention of driving 6-7 hours to shoot so didn’t think much of it.

Goes out to 1700. Not very close to DFW, but closer than south Texas.

He can shoot at any target he chooses. He will be so far away they would never find him.

Thanks guys. There is a group of guys on another forum that head to Kansas a couple times a year and that range is virtually limitless. I might try heading there once or twice a year.

I was planning on shooting at Triple Cs in hopes that I get invited to some private property every now and then but now that they closed that plan isn't going to work anymore.

I know I had it good at my previous place where we could safety shoot up to and over 7k and it was only about 45 minutes from my place but I figured it would be easier to find ELR in TX than it's turning out to be ;-(

I guess I can always shoot at shorter distances with smaller targets. I might give that RPR place a try. Thanks.

    Out here by the lake!
I know that there’s a mountain top to mountain top range at the Y O Ranch Headquarters not sure of the distance. It has 2 different sized gongs possibly more.

I believe they were set up by some training group. IIRC Asymmetric Soulutions was the name of the company.
