Any Helicopter pilots

I am looking a getting my helicopter pilots license in a year or so and I wanted some idea of what i will be getting my self in to.
It has been something I have wanted to do for a while.

Like to get an idea how long it would nomaly take to get a profesional license.

Thought about doing that myself at one time. Did some looking into it. What I did discover is that it's cheaper to obtain in the long run if you do your ground school and get the private first on fixed wing (Cessna) and then later go for the rotary as an add on. How long for all that and then to pro status, I can't say a thing to though.
