The title says it. I'm 15 and looking quite a lot at becoming a Game Warden, but hear that it consumes all your time and you can not do much else, to what extent is this true. Thanks for any information.

Have you checked out the Texas Parks and Wildlife website? Also call you local office and let them know you are interested in a career with them. I bet you can get an interview with someone.

I can't give much insight into their work schedule but I can give some advice since I inerviewed last year for the job. Don't get your hopes too high to get accepted the first time. From what I've been told, it normally takes a few tries before you get accepted. Apparently almost nobody gets accepted the first time around. I assume they want to test whether it's really a passion of yours or just a one time thing. Also, it goes a long way to do a few (if not more) ride alongs with them. You can contact your local office to get information about doing those.

When I was younger I looked into it, but then I learned there was a considerable waiting list. Turned out alot of people wanted to make money by hanging out in the woods. lol Good luck to you.

I wouldn't want to be the guy walking through the woods trying to catch the guys with guns that are already breaking the law...but that's just me.

They are normally spread out to cover anywhere form 1-3 counties in some areas.
You basically set your own schedule I think but you are also on call 24-7-365.

Starting salary is around 37k, not good money IMO, and they don't do overtime...

They get really friendly once you get around recruiting age... Lol I'm still tempted to try, every few months, then I think about that salary with no overtime, and I give up.
