Any opinions on Smith & Wesson M&P22

Any opinions on the Smith & Wesson M&P22 .22 cal pistol?

M&P15-22 is to an M&P 15 as an M&P 22 is to a M&P 9
They look, feel and operate pretty much the same.

I shoot an M&P 22 at Steel Challenge matches.

None ... mags are scarce and expensive.

If you were closer, we could meet and you could run a few mags through to decide for yourself.

Just bought an M&P 22...Wow!!! Much better experience than my old Walther P22 which I sold and could not get rid of quick enough. Thanks for the info.

I've read lots of good reports on the M&P, and handled them at the LGS, but haven't owned or shot one... but isn't the M&P 22 pistol built for S&W by the same folks who make the P22 (Umarex ~ which also owns Walther)?

The 15-22 carbine is made by S&W, so I highly doubt the pistol is made by Umarex (which does make the Colt AR-22)

I know the 15-22 rifle is made here, but I found this on S&W's website describing their M&P 22 pistol:

"Made by the .22 experts at Carl Walther, GmbH for Smith & Wesson."

M&P 22 pistol is great. Trigger isnt like the M&P 9/40/45 though as its hammer fired.

NP, I'd completely forgot they made a pistol version of the M&P 15-22 rifle.
