Come to a family reunion and I will demonstrate.
By using patterns the way I make them, I have much less waste or double stitching. I get more use out of each piece of leather. Plus I can adjust for different thicknesses or for adding a lining.

If you're making your patterns in a CAD program, you can have the leather laser cut. The laser can even cut the stitching holes; big time saver. I would offer to do it for you, but I lost access to a laser cutter :(

Thanks for the info TheDan. I looked into it, and it looks like a good idea. The costs though are pretty steep. For now, I will stick to my razor blade, punches and AWL which are tools I already have.

Cut it out and started stitching last night.

This one will be for the Taurus 66. I need to make a few design tweaks for the S&W 686. I want the button design to look different, and also rotate the angle about 3 more degrees.

Made this little pocket knife sheath from scrap leather and scrap thread (and scrap knife lol). I think it came out ok. I based this design off an image I found on Google. Person who posted the picture had a quarter sitting next to it, and I was able to scale it off of that. This is a "to-scale" replica, in the style I like.

I'll make a black one when I have enough scraps again.

A few months ago I purchased a Mossberg MC-01 with the laser..
I have been searching for the past few months to track down a IWB holster that can accommodate the laser, have good retention, and sit at the perfect angle..

The fact is, they don't exist yet so I made my own:
    1.jpg

The pistol fits well, conceals deep, is tuckable, and sits perfectly at the right angle (for me) at the 4:00 position. It feels like it's not even there since all metal is covered with leather. I left a groove for the grip to allow my fingers to get a solid purchase on the gun for the draw.

    Retention is good

    The magazine release is clear.
