Searched but didn't find a thread on the TCR 22. Anyone own one of these yet? I'd be curious to hear thoughts of anyone that has actually fired one.

I've always loved the Ruger 10/22, and was looking for another one but ran across this new (2018) gun from Thompson Center. I've read a few reviews on it and it seems to be an improvement on the 10/22.

It's basically a clone of the 10/22, with many parts being interchangeable, including magazines. Some factory differences/improvements include: larger bolt handle, last round bolt hold-open, larger sight radius (with aperture on rear), Magpul stock with M-lock, better fit/finish, integral machined picatinny rail on receiver, and threaded muzzle.

I ordered one from a FFL friend for $320 out the door.

I'd be interested to hear recommendations for a scope. I tend to like high quality gear.

    Here's Jerry Miculek shooting it:

I still love Rugers; I also ordered a Ruger PC9...

Wasn’t familiar with that one. I’m a big fan of the 10/22, though the TC seems to have paid attention to some of the gripes.

Look forward to a range report.

I hate to refer anyone to another forum, but if you want information on the rifle from a larger demographic of real world users, there is quite a bit of chatter about these over on rimfirecentral.

Quality scope to dedicate to a 22LR.

    https://us.hawkeoptics.com/vantage-riflescopes.html#reticles

    Check the Hawke line.

Choose the reticle calibrated to the type of ammo you are using.

I have one on my 10/22 with the Gemtech MIST barrel that shoots pretty much exclusively CCI subsonic and the thing works great for the mortar like trajectory out to 200 yards

Great clarity for a great price point

You cannot go wrong with a good Leupold.

I'll also observe that you cannot be wrong spending far more for the optic than for the rifle.

The "Firedot" motion sensitive lit reticles are great. I have a couple.

The joy will be finding its favorite ammo and getting that adjustable turret calibrated to that ammo.
