More people show up for any given World Series parade than any of these dumb ass riots.
I used the term due to the goal of the people engaged, the violence erupting and number of people that are involved. Revolution can come in many forms - historically, the French revolution started and was very similar to this with riots and common people - it hasn't gotten to that level yet, but I think we're seeing the early stages. Further, this isn't just social disobedience.
Time will tell if this is a full on revolution, but it has many of the earmarks of the early stages. First the people call for the ouster of rulers and then things evolve into system change.
Given the French do have a penchant for this sort of thing, what’s missing is the alternate government-in-waiting.
When the next de Gaulle steps forward, I’ll revisit this topic.
The current French riot is just a bunch of socialists who want more free stuff. Free gas, free houses, free government checks. This isn't a call for limited government. It's a call for more government to set prices on every day goods. This is what entitlement mentality vs. austerity looks like.
Actually, its not just the socialists, its the left and the right, the anti-immigration faction, and more. Apparently, none of them are happy...
When the socialist teet starts to run dry there are plenty of anti-immigration socialists to be found.
I don't see the whole nation up in arms.
I'm prepared to defend my property from rioters, if that's what you mean by "ready"...
Also good to remember that a little gasoline and a few people with good throwing arms can do a lot of damage...
