Had one once. My daughter clicked an email and it took over the computer. She unplugged it, but it scrambled everything per my computer guy.

It had nothing that wasn’t backed up, so I threw it away and bought a new one. Restored from Norton and most of what I needed was back on there.

Changed my passwords to my email accounts.

Scrambled mostly photos.
Just got a new computer, I had the majority of items backed up.
Still pissed me off...

Tape over my camera too. As for the mic I hope they like the Kardashians cuz I watch it 24/7, STILL can't enough.

My camera is taped/covered over with a sticker so even if they can turn it on they still can't see anything

They are just playing off the ransom ware attacks. You know it's real when they lock your stuff first. Otherwise it comes from your rich Nigerian prince who wants to give you money, from a sweat shop in Kenya
