I got a IAC ( chinese) 1897 a while back and was just shooting it yesterday. well after about 20 rounds the action just fell apart, I was slam firing it if that matters. Does anybody know what could have done this, i've taken it apart and reassembled it 4 times but the carrier will not drop to feed and manually cocking the hammer will cause the carrier to loosen/ slightly drop from the bolt. Does anyone also know where I could find a gunsmith or someone familiar with 1897's in san antonio?

I could be mistaken but I think I remember hearing of a pin that shears off in the 1897s if they are run hard.

Could be it sheared off just enough for you not to notice but enough to cause your issues.

    I could be misremembering though.

This is an extremely late response but I just fixed it. the magazine tube ring had broken off, allowing it to go forward but stopping the stroke back. making the action not fully extend.
