Well, figure 130 for the kit i posted.

common dies run about $30-40 online. I can point you to some good forum and facebook groups to get used dies a little cheaper if you don't mind. They will work just as good for just as long.

If you are doing rifle you'll need a case length gauge. Theyre about 5 bucks.

    Sparsky,

We "good 'ole hillbillies" are WAY too cheap to buy much factory ammo.
(For example, the factory loads for my 9.3x62mm Mauser pump-rifle are 2.27 EACH. - I can load a perfectly acceptable GCCB 280 grain hunting round for about 50 cents & that is A KILLER on any NA game. = BIG DIFFERENCE in $$$$$$$.)

    Currently, I load .38SPL, 9mm Luger, .243WCF, .300 Savage, .30-06 & the aforementioned 9.3x62.

Btw, I buy my primers & powder at the local gun-shows to avoid the HIGH S&H costs.

    yours, satx

When you start loading for oddball calibers the cost savings is way up there. Im about to start loading 460 s&w mags for my brother in law. I think im looking at about 50 cents a pop. Compared to hornady at 2.25 a pop he is currently paying.

I am loading 9mm match grade rounds at about 16 cents and XTP at about 21 cents. I am working on figuring out powder coating my lead cast. If i can get that down ill be down to about 6 cents per round.

Just a quick plug into the hodgdon site. Figuring it in the middle charge weight at 66 grains. 7000 grains per pound with powder at 25 dollars a pound. Thats just over 100 rounds per pound of powder.

    .35 - hornady SST (154 gr)
    .05 - primer
    .25 - powder

Thats at $0.65 per round assuming you have brass

I will have brass. I know the startup cost will be a little on the high side but once I get going I hope to really save some money. I need to resurch the 7mm wby mag and see how many times you can safely reload the same brass. Plus I feal like I just want to learn reloading. Looks like a fun hobby to get into and if a can save a little on ammo cost even better. Especially on the weatherby specific rounds

You can reload them many many times. The hotter load you use the more stress on the brass. If youre pushing max loads you might get 5 loads out of a case. If you keep them milder and have your dies set right to your chamber (or just neck size your brass when sizing) you could probably even stretch case life to 15, maybe even 20 loads.

That's nice to know. I'm looking forward to start reloading when I get back to Texas
