An old man was on the radio this morning. He was a survivor of the concentration camps of the Nazis. He visited the place AOC was talking about and said there was no comparison. Now AOC is again backtracking on what she said. I have a feeling that she isn't giving her constituents the service they deserve and has been shooting of on different tangents. She might be a one-termer if she pisses enough of them off. The camp I saw was better than what I sent my overseas deployment in.

I see no point in continuing this discussion, it is much like having a discussion with a liberal. You will never convince me that being a person of integrity is a bad thing. And I will never convince you that being a person without integrity is a bad thing.

We dont disagree on integrity. We disagree weather or not using the claim to hide behind and not participating is tenable.

There are over 325 million people in the country.
Somewhere around 200 million registerd voters. +/- depending on the election.
In 2018 113 million voted. Less than half the registerd voters at the time. That was an all time high percentage wise for the mid term.
In 2016 that went up to 55% or so of registerd voters cast a ballot for something.

On avarage less than 30 percent of the people participated in a national election where the president is included. Much less sometimes during midterms. That means the winner is decided by 15 to 20 percent of the country. Or about 55 to 60 million votes to the winner.
In some local elections the turnout can be in the single digits in some precincts.

Another example, In California they have 20 million registered voters. About 12 million voted with Hillary getting 8 million plus. We know that California out side of population centers is at least center right if not a majority of conservative. What would have happened there if just the registerd voters participated? That's where the majority of her 2 million extra votes came from. Would she still have won the state? Maybe but the votes would be much closer and if everyone in every close state who was registered actually voted there would be no question of legitimacy.

If all the so called principled folks actually participated along with all the apathetic who were actually registerd you would have 2/3 of the country participating instead of 1/4 and there wouldnt be such division cause the will of the people would be clear. More importantly the people elected would have legitimate consent of the governed. No loud 10 percent of the far left trying to take out the president.
It's another reason why third party candidates are so destructive. If everyone cared enough you might get actual viability for a competitive legit three way choice that doesn't default the race into the worst possible outcome.

There will never always be a saviour or god incarnate in an election. Sometimes you vote against the worse possible outcome. That's just the way it is in our system. I guarantee you that by refusing to participate you are going to have a question of legitimacy and mandate every time. If Trump, who really is just a less crappy tasting sheit sammy albeit one who surprised folks, had received 60 percent of the vote there wouldnt be this all out war on the man. A lot of people just voted against Hillary but if everyone participated just think about the legitimacy of the outcome.

The 2016 primary election was the first time I had to wait hours to vote. I thought how frickin cool. Turnout in the Nov election wasnt as strong. Lots of people who didnt vote Trump in the primaries didnt show up. Remember you are only a few thousand votes in any of 5 or 6 states from having Hillary Clinton as your president. Think about that.

You have principles? great. Integrity? Awesome. Honorable? I have no doubt. You may be lacking the responsibility you have to your country to participate in deciding its direction. Think about what will happen if one of these radicals take the whitehouse and both houses of Congress. They wont phuck away 2 years like Obama did. If you dont participate you, again a general term for those who dont vote, will be responsible for that.

The long game is the winner. The left figured it out decades ago. You cant win if you refuse to play, for what ever reason

A person of integrity does not need anything to hide behind.

When I walk out of the voting booth I hold my head high knowing that I have voted for good. I don't exit it like a dog with his tail between his legs.

Like I said in a previous post, you will never convince me that being a person of integrity is a bad thing.

Ones integrity is defined by their opinion on their morals and values, what's just or right but it is also defined by fullfilling their responsibility to others. We all learned in primary school what your responsibility as a citizen is to the country. One cannot justify that they are fulfilling that responsibility by not participating. Especially today.

Integrity is not one's OPINION of their morals or values. Integrity is HAVING high moral principles and being honest.

I personally know people who THINK they are persons of integrity. Two of those people, on two separate occasions, had deposits of several hundred dollars into their bank account that they knew they did not make. Guess what these people who THINK that they have high moral principles did with the money. BTW they also vote for the lesser of two evils.

I don't know where you came up with the 'not participating' thing, I vote in every election.

You really have a serious misperception of the meaning and application of integrity.

Choosing the best available path that avoids damage to our nation in an election casts no aspersion whatsoever on integrity.

You also have a failure to understand logic.

You are confusing correlation with causality.
