Two Locations in El Paso:
El Paso Community College MDP Campus(indoor)
Ft Bliss Rod and Gun Club(outdoor)
Rifle Marksmanship Instruction
Who we are and what we're about:
The Appleseed Program is designed to take you from being simply a rifle owner to being a true Rifleman. A Rifleman has traditionally been defined as a marksman capable of hitting man-sized targets from 500 yards away – with an off-the-rack rifle. This 500-yard range is traditionally known as “the Rifleman's quarter-mile” -- a Rifleman can hit just about any target he can see. This skill was particularly evident in the birth of our country, and was the difference in winning the Revolutionary War. We will use the Army Qualification Test scaled for 25 meters.
What You Will Learn? What Else?
“The Six Steps To Firing The Shot”: Prone, Sitting & Standing Positions
1. Sight Picture Use of the Sling, Points of Stability
2. Sight Alignment Natural Point of Aim
3. Respiratory pause. Talking Targets, Ball & Dummy
4. a. Keep your eye on the front sight (or reticule) Dragging Wood & Turkey Neck
b. Focus your mind on the front sight. Rifleman’s Cadence
5. Squeeze the trigger. Adjusting Sights / Scope
6. Follow through, Call the shot. Inches-Minutes-Clicks
We will discuss the Rifleman’s Heritage and the beginning of the American Rifleman tradition – 233 years ago! Beginners especially welcome. Families encouraged. Even experienced shooters will benefit.
What To Bring:
Your Rifle -centerfire or rimfire (.22LR is fine – prefer detachable magazines), either Iron sights or Telescopic, Ammo (450 Rounds), Several spare magazines, Sling (cheap G.I. works best), eye & ear protection. We are about shooting, not equipment! See website for more info. www.appleseedinfo.org
