I don't buy emergency supplies to re-sell in times of need for excess profit. I've always kept a good stock merely because I feel that in a true, long-lasting emergency it's my duty to my fellow man to NOT be a burden on others, to provide for myself.
I had enough .22LRs in stock to trade for a new car during the height of the most recent panic yet I sold nothing. Some will say that I utterly failed to maximize the value of my portfolio. I say I can sleep at night and I can stand to look at myself in the mirror in the morning. Those things are more valuable to me than money.
BTW - Notice that I used the term "excess profit" in this post. To some, I'm sure that's proof I'm a socialist. I don't care.
