Lee is the only cadet who graduated from West Point without ever receiving a demerit. His name was permanently removed from the Demerit list at some point. He is the only one so honored.

He also had great personal reservations about leaving the US Army for the Confederate Army but his first loyalty was to the Commonwealth of Virginia. States were at the time considered superior to the union. In fact, it was after WWI that folks traveling in Europe would answer to being an American first rather than a Texan, Virginian, or whatever state they were born in.

They can do what they want, it will not come down from my living room wall!

Got a nicely framed print of this painting hanging in a respected place.

"The Christian General" by William Maughan.

Guess they dont respect real men in history. Wait, he was a Confederate.........which means he was a racist....which means it isnt politically correct to have his picture hanging there. What garbage, these folks are idiots.

Gays can now get married in the West Point chapel. (no such thing as "gay marriage" by definition.) Maybe Lee would want his portrait taken down.

His portrait will no doubt be replaced by the first lesbian general.

Just like the bust of Winston Churchill in the White House, bho had it shipped back to the UK because he was a evil, African persecuting 'colonialist'.

He also made it to Mandellas funeral but not Margaret Thatcher. He even found time to shake hands with a socialist dictator and take fun selfie pix but our greatest ally, the UK...sorry couldnt make it. Had to go golfing.

So somebody is offended, big deal. When are we, as a country, going to grow a pair and quit giving a **** because some sensitive individual whines about something?

A high school in my hometown is going to change its name because it was named after Nathan Bedford Forrest. Some people claim that makes it racist, but they haven't done their homework on the man. Plus, most of the people going to that school are probably some of the biggest racists you could ever meet; which makes it all the more hypocritical.

It was a stupid media so-called news.

The War College was just doing a periodic inventory, just like every other Army installation.

Someone took the pictures down to scan the bar codes affixed to them.

Then some sick suck brings up Confederate Generals being the enemy. Totally out of context.

If they want to remove the paintings of R.E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson, they will have to re-name Fort Hood, Fort Bragg, Fort Lee, Fort Pickett, Fort A.P. Hill, Fort Gordon, Fort Jackson, and several others to conform to the idea that those great American heroes were the enemy, when they faithfully served their States who severed ties with an oppressive national government.

    History will shortly repeat itself.

I'm in georgia right now, but the local stations are from jacksonville fl here. I hadn't heard he was in the kkk on any of the local news casts, they just keep referring to him as a confederate general, no mention of the kkk. You should see the level of "dont give a damn" on these kids faces when they are interviewed though.

That's about right for Trash like our Liberal Socialists. Lee was one of the finest soldiers in US history.

Of course, we stole his home, the Custis-Lee mansion and plantation just across the Potomac River from Washington, DC. Lee and his wife left Virginia for the Confederacy so Union troops occupied the mansion and plantation. To ensure that Lee would never return, they began to bury Civil War dead around the house and grounds. That land is now the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. John F Kennedy is buried there and the Iwo Jima memorial is located there, too.

Robert E Lee was a fine man, an excellent soldier, a soldier centered General who damned near whipped the north. We stole his home and owe him better than this disgraceful insult.

Actually sounds more like the left to me. Unless i missed some news in the last 40 years, most of the more violent groups have been way out in left field.
