Just got home from the range breaking in my new Arsenal Sam7R. Actually shooting both the Sam7R and the Sam7k 34 I also recently acquired. I am fairly new to AK variant ownership and am loving it so far. I have fired several AK rifles over the years that friends had brought out but until recently never had the motivation to buy one. That all changed a couple of months ago when a friend brought a couple of really nice AK rifles to one of our Sunday shootarounds. After spending some time with them I got the bug. As we all do I started doing homework and research and decided to buy new production. It was clear to me the Arsenal's were about the best new AK rifles available in todays market. Not necessarily the best value but very high build quality.

The more I shoot these Sam7's the more I like them. Very solid, super smooth action and both the rifle and pistol were extremely accurate with iron sights right out of the box. I have about 300 rounds through each of them so far and will post more thoughts as I get closer to at least the 1000 round mark.

Anyone who has experience with these excellent Bulgarian firearms please let me know your thoughts and impressions.

As you can tell from my username I like me some circle 10.

Awesome choices. If you have any questions about part brake in or concerns reach out to me in pm.

I have traded off lots of akm’s but will never get rid of my sam7sf. These are great rifles. Best Buy for the dollar? Maybe not. If a wasr10 is in spec and ever comes down on price those where the best bang for the buck. Wasrs are tough buggers. 50/50 if they shoot good lol.

The Croatians are getting better and may soon take the crown for best bang for the buck. Though they do some things I’m not a fan with and time will tell if previous issues truly are fixed.

Based on your username I certainly get what you like. I originally was going to buy the SF folder but after shouldering it and the R model the fixed stock with the shorter LOP felt more comfortable. I still may pick up the SF in the future as there is no denying the 'cool factor' of the folder. As I get more rounds on these I may pm you with a question or 2. Who knows how long these will be available here and I agree they are keepers for sure!

The lop on the sf works well for me and I’ll tell you this: it’s probably the most durable folding stock you can have. It’s stupid thick at the hinge. You could probably run it over with a truck and be fine. The ambi safety is smooth. Bolt and carrier break in on these can be different so don’t worry. The carriers often have let’s call it extra meat where the bolt cams so you may see some odd peening but it’s not odd at all.

After playing around with the SF I could tell just how well the folding stock worked. Very solid and precise in both open and closed positions. I actually installed the CNC folder brace on my SAM7K 34 and it is by far the best aftermarket brace I have used on any 'pistol length' rifle. Almost as if it were Arsenal factory installed. Couldn't be happier and see absolutely no reason to sbr this pistol. Just waiting on the Bulgarian 4 piece flash hider to finish off the build.

I too have an Sam 7sf, not a folder. Never any problems. Sgammo has those croatian bolt hold open mags which work well in my Arsenal, no grinding required. Bolt doesn't stay open when you pull the mag but at least you know you don't have a hot round in the chamber. These guns can only increase in value.

Good choice that you have one. The designation SF after Sam7 stands for 'side folder'. I don't doubt you own a SAM7 but if it is an SF it is certainly is a side folder. Otherwise it would be another designation. Either way, all the same milled gun, just different furniture, barrel length, flash hiders etc.

You are right, it is a Sam7R.
