Didn't make it today. Was out there Friday, but just to shoot pistols.

    Imagine rifle is fairly wet.

Just left after shooting some .17HMR at 100 yards.

Water was shin deep in spots going to post a target.

The entire field between the pro shop and Westheimer was water. All the way up to the road.

Damn, that is impressive. Thanks for the update Kong.

It looks like it will get worse before it gets better...
It was very impressive. The rest of George Bush Park reminded me of some swamps you would find in Louisiana.

The gentleman in the pro shop said the water was still rising as well.

The Bayou Rifles Addicks range (Eldridge just north of I-10) is under about five feet of water and probably won't reopen until late June or early July.

Does ASC now stand for Addicks Surf Club? Do I need to bring a rifle or a fishing pole? Fly fishing at the 25 yd range, and surf rod fishing at the 100yd...

At least the next week looks dry. I wonder how much water still has not arrived from upstream?

I won a couple of one hour range tokens for Boyert, during their S&W days event. It looks like a good time to use them...

It appears ASC has dried up quite nicely.
I am trolling for people interested in shooting Sunday, or possibly on the 4th.

There is a .308 that needs to be sighted in, but I am willing to listen to other interesting options.

    What say you?

Agreed. Might try and make it out later. Depends on if I get clearance from the tower.

Heading out now if anyone is interested. Just hoping heavy stuff will hold off a while.

It appears ASC has dried up quite nicely.
At 8:43AM, I got an email about the Bayou Rifles Addicks Range, which is not all that far from ASC. Due to heavy rain last night, Addicks is flooded and remains closed; a work day scheduled for today has been cancelled.

So at least one of the ranges on that side of town that had "dried up quite nicely" is again flooded. Of course, the Addicks range is designed to flood; it will always be in worse shape as to standing water than any other range in a fairly large area.

I'll be very interested to hear what ASC range conditions are today.

I live about 5 minutes from ASC, and had a lot of standing water in my backyard this morning. Unusual, because it was parched yesterday. Maybe Major Kong can give us an update....

Pistols are probably GTG, but I need to sight in a rifle.

When Houston gets into this rainy early summer pattern, it usually clears up the second week of July and stays dry through August. That has been my observation for the last 30 years or so....

It is fairly dry out here. Even on the 100 yard range. Some mud, but nothing some old shoes or boots won't handle. Pretty crowded too.

I have to wait and shoot after the guy next to me shoots his SCAR 17 with the muzzle break on it it. Shakes the whole damn bench.

I will bet your .17 groups look much better than the SCAR's.... :)
The SCAR is a close second. Slight breeze, and I haven't run a bore snake down the pipe in over 150 rounds. I find accuracy tends to fall off if you don't clean after 100 rounds or so. Of course I left it at home to day. Doh!
