    No, Michele Obama does not get paid to serve as the First Lady and she doesn't perform any official duties. But this hasn't deterred her from hiring an unprecedented number of staffers to cater to her every whim and to satisfy

    her every request in the midst of the Great Recession. Just think, Mary Lincoln was taken to task for purchasing china for the White House during the Civil War. And Mamie Eisenhower had to shell out the salary for her personal secretary from her husband's salary.

    This part is not correct, Ms. Bush had 18-24 @ 1.4 million per year.
    hillary had 18 or so, still I find this extremely disturbing.

    According to my wife, she needs a clothing coordinator as she wears some of the ugliest clothes my wife has ever seen.

    She needs the help, trust me. Just look at her. I swear she is the first member of her family walking upright.

    I wonder how much she would pay me to kick her in the rear end every morning????

    Your wife has good taste, my spouse and I commented on that the day of inauguration when she wore the clown outfit. What really gets me is many of the women newscasters wear the sleeveless dress to copy her.

    This pales in comparision to the white house and congressional staffs. Each congressman has a budget in the millions of dollars for staff. I think I heard the total white house personnel list was over a thousand people.

    The whole stinking thing is one big sad joke.
