    Pretty quick, huh? About 2 1\2 months . . .

This was my first Form 4 - I did have an EBI done for a Top Secret clearance when I was in the Air Force - but that was about 25 years ago.

Yes, all those dates are correct.

ok you are saying that you sent the forms in then you received your approval via the mail (USPS) before your check even cleared? I just have never ever seen this before, the approval before a check clearing. I mean I have done a few of these and know many people with NFA's and this has not been done the check clearing after a approval. The checks must clear prior to a examiner being assigned. AGAIN ARE YOU SURE OF YOUR DATES. Then taking this out of the gun world just the USPS is not that efficient. Not to mentiopn this is the first time that the Federal Gov shut down in 50+ years do to weather. Yes Moscow was laughing.

My dates are 100% correct; this is my 28th tax stamp, so I have done this many times before and am well aware of the process.

Well that explains it then your a frequent flier.

Damn. I almost got really excited about the ATF getting super efficient and turning over Form 4's in a week! I'm putting my first one in as soon as the can gets to my FFL, and the thought of it being back in 2 weeks almost made my head explode.

I put the forms in just before I deployed, and currently am still deployed, so I just called to check on it in September. The lady on the phone was quite surprised that I was calling in 2 months after the fact. Don't know when my stamp arrived.
