Hasan bought his FN through a local gun store. The same FBI that was monitoring his emails and other jihadist behavior also did his NICS check. There was no dropping the ball between agencies, the FBI f**ked this up all on their own.

Dude, you need to read the Fifth Amendment. It is unlawful for the FBI (or any other agency) to deprive you of your rights without due process of law. Due process being something along the lines of a trial.

Your post comes frighteningly close to what the leftists have been pushing for - on a watch list, fail NICS.

Freedom is dangerous. Freedom is often messy. But it's safer and cleaner than the alternative.

I did not say anything about depriving him of his rights (I assume you mean to purchase the guns). However, they obviously were investigating him and based on his behavior most likely had reasonable cause to put him under surveillance. I am sure they could convince a judge of that and get the necessary warrants.

Words of wisdom from Alexander Solzhenitsyn:

"If only it were all so simple! If only there were evil people somewhere committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?"

"To do evil a human being must first of all believe that what he's doing is good... Ideology - that is what gives devildoing its long-sought justification and gives the evildoer the necessary steadfastness and determination. That is the social theory which helps to make his acts seem good instead of bad in his own and others' eyes, so that he won't hear reproaches and curses but will receive praise and honors."

    "

I hope that no one present will suspect me of offering my personal criticism of the Western system to present socialism as an alternative. Having experienced applied socialism in a country where the alternative has been realized, I certainly will not speak for it. The well-known Soviet mathematician Shafarevich, a member of the Soviet Academy of Science, has written a brilliant book under the title Socialism; it is a profound analysis showing that socialism of any type and shade leads to a total destruction of the human spirit and to a leveling of mankind into death."

"And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say goodbye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling in terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand. The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst; the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!"

That pesky old Bill of Rights.

These libtards actually think they ALLOW us to posses "weapons", and don't see that it is our RIGHT.

I really smell serious trouble on the horizon.

thats the problem with the present administration they think that they allow us to do the things we do when in all actuality it is the people who let the government do what they do, that is if the American people would wake the hell up and realize how much power they actually have.

TI is right! Except I don't think it's starting, it's escalating! I for one will never vote for these retards that disregard the United States Constitution, but we as the general community need to take a stand against the anti gun crowd that tramples our very rights! The meere fact that the attorney general claims to allow us to have weapons is an outrage and he should be thrown from office threw the window.

What exactly would they have done if such a registry existed and they became aware a member of the US military lawfully purchased a firearm?

They would "justify" cramming more unconstitutional and illegal bullshit legislation down our throats.

Holder is dangerous to American freedom like the rest of the kneejerks appointed by the "obaka" (baka=fool, Japanese language). But he is the type one might run into selling doctored up junker cars at some hole in the wall car lot in a particular run down part of town !!!

It would be wise for We, the American Gun Owners, our NRA and GOA and the other gun organizations to keep a close eye on Mr. Misfit Holder !

Meanwhile if you don't belong to or support one of the above organizations, it is high time to sign on and participate in the battle we seem to face always from those types. And stop your bitching about those orgs. asking for funds, the battle is costly, if you can afford it, do so, if not.....just give loyalty....

I'd be happy to join the NRA. But they want a fee and I got nothing money wise. I'll support what they support but I can't give them any money at this time.

Thing of it is you should look at it as an investment. Your NRA card gets you lots of discounts that add up quickly. One of the biggest savings I realized was by changing my health insurance to one of the companies recommended by the NRA and I have saved over $300 per year, well worth the initial $35 fee. If you're too strapped for cash perhaps me and some of the other NRA members will chip in a few bucks apiece to help you pay the fee.

Thats it, the next thing you will get from them is a renewal notice for the regular membership.

Your a "member" with none of the member benefits, however it does increase the rolls. So when you get to the point where you can spare the $25 then go for the full membership.

So the point is so that at the NRA they can say "look Cody signed up on 12/2/09 to say piss of obama" ? I guess that is what they were after anyway. So when I sign up for the "real membership" what kinds of benefits are there in it? Just curious I'll sign up the full membership when I can.
