I've been seeing information about this for a few days now.
Hopefully we'll see the "pendulum" finally start to swing back the other way.
My suspicion is that the City of Austin politicians will not make life easy for UATX.

It is difficult for Universities to get accredited for some degree programs. I've been messing around for a few years trying to help get TX State accredited for their mechanical engineering degree program. Finally got approval from Texas Higher Education. Bear in mind, they already are accredited for EE, CE and some others.
