Anyone else have any thoughts?

I vote for Lockhart cuz I'm a member there, but it is obviously not "in Austin".

ARC is not quite "in Austin" either but it is close(r) - but can just anyone show up (e.g. I'm not a member but if one of us is can we all be "his buddies")?

Red's is Red's..

Anyone have some private land > 10acres outside of Austin City Limits?

Yeah I don't see how Red's would work. It will be packed like it has been daily for the past few months (since Obama) and I don't think we can (afford to) rent out the whole place for a few hours or so. It is impossible to talk inside there anyways, so I guess that leaves Lockhart or else ARC if someone is a member and can bring guests.

Honestly, neither of the Red's locations will work, logistically speaking, for a meeting like that. Usually they're packed, there isn't much room sometimes, not the easiest place to chat and hang out, plus you can't do things like rapid fire, range fees can get expensive and add up ($14 per hour). Honestly, Lone Star is about the only range I've found near Austin that provides all of those things. It's outdoors with plenty of room, you can draw from the holster, rapid fire all you want (not on the rifle range though), they have a bbq pit, plenty of room to just hang out and talk, etc etc. About the only other range I've been to that covers most of those things would be Astro, but that's about equally far from Austin, just in the opposite direction up in or near Liberty Hill. Lone Star is cheap, just $12 for the day, and they don't hassle you so it's about the best one could hope for.
