Back before that motto was adopted, it was: “Onward through the fog”.

They still operate in a fog, if you ask me!

I lived there for almost a decade; in fact, my son was born there. Like all fairytales, once-upon-a-time, when Austin was a smaller place (MUCH, much smaller), it was actually a great little place to live. Then all the people moved in...

Onward thru the fog was the first Oat Willie’s slogan I remember; late ‘70s I guess it was.

Old Austin died beginning in the mid-80s when Lee Cooke whored out the city after the S&L and oil busts. Then, it was over when Leslie arrived.

Michael Dell ain't done us no favors.

Knew Michael well. Helped him carry a few PCs across the parking lot when he was moving into his first “real” office up on 183. Back then his company was known as PCs Limited - he started it with a loan from his uncle. He dropped out of UT much to the chagrin of his parents. I heard eventually PCs Limited became the most sued company in Texas’ history. I have no idea if that is true but I note the name was changed.

Can you imagine a rural Texas town populated by church going, heterosexuals want their city motto to be:

"Keep (fill in a small town name) weird and see how well that'd play out"?
