Sorry, off topic, but whenever the tactical tomahawk question pops up I have to pose a rhetorical question:

It's you and a complete stranger, thrown into an arena for a gladiatorial fight to the death. In the middle of the ring are two weapons: a spear, and a tomahawk. Both of you start equidistant... what do you run and grab?

Now... why aren't there more tactical spears???

If you will be meeting in the middle to grab a weapon the spear will be much harder to use offensively but with enough training it could be very effective defensively.

I'm not trained, tomahawk and start swingin'.

Well phooey! Went to Academy tonight.
Ours doesn't carry the S&W tomahawk.
Had some SOG and other cheapo ones.
I really want the S&W with the full tang handle.

    Actually, there are...

...but to be honest I would still prefer a tactical tomahawk instead. Better close quarters weapon, easier to store, more versatile and still can be used for other, non-combative purposes.

Yeah I've seen that one. I've actually been talking about the tactical spear/lance for some time now. I couldn't trust anything that UC puts out. Besides the portability issue and lack of chopping ability (I mean - are you going to breach a door with a tomahawk anyway?), I believe a properly built short tactical spear would be superior in every way. Awww hell, why not just bring bayonets back?

I saw the tactical spear at academy the other day. $65 I think it was... A little on the heavy side and the handle felt wobbly. I think I'd rather have a hickory pole for a spear handle.

Santa came early. I got the S&W last night.
Holy cow! What a chunk of steel. I got a feeling I'm gonna be sore after swinging it around.
