I have had many backpacks and most of the more technical ones have D rings located on the shoulder straps on the front. Thething is i at come up witn any use for them. I have tried GPS, cell phones and even knives but they just seem silly the only think that seems to work is a secondary lash point for securing a second backpack to my pack

So what to you attach to these points?

Does the backpack have a compartment for a CamelBack? The D rings help keep the drink hose from flopping all over out of your reach.

Otherwise, they can make a good place to put something like a length of paracord to pull on to either help you get the pack on or give your shoulders a bit of a rest while you walk.

I hang red iNova Micro lights on them, they're very handy to have around and the red light doesn't kill your night vision!

They have four modes: high, low, strobe and you can also set them in signal mode. About $6-9/ea, depending on where you buy them.

They also use two 2016 lithium batteries which are replaceable.

    Cheers! M2

If you do hang stuff from it, keep it light. It doesn't tke much weight swinging around to make you burn more energy than you need to. This is assuming we're talking about a hiking situation...
