    That answers it. No emissions test in San Antonio.
    It’s mainly only the Dallas and Houston areas that do the sniffer test. They want to be more like Comiefornia. Other areas have no reason to plug into the OBDII port. In some places you can even pass your inspection with the light on.

    Williamson and Travis Counties also require the emissions test. Vehicles under 2 years old and over 24 years old are exempt.

    There are two different types of inspections. The full emissions type where they hook a sniffer to the tail pipe and plug into the OBDII port in the higher emissions counties, and the basic safety inspection like they do in other counties, and for diesel trucks in the high emissions counties. If all you have is the safety inspection then it's just, show proof of insurance, make sure all your lights and blinkers work, and if the guy is really picky, tires and wipers in good condition.

    The other kind is plug everything in and let the computer tell you pass / fail.
