So talked to George (TexasRedneck) , Sterling is going to call me when he gets back into town on Wed night.

    Ideas so far

Sell BBQ Plates (Sterling has a tow behind pit, George probaly does too)
I'm sure I can convince the girlfriend to make something as can others.

Cost per entry contests (winner gets a prize, money to beneficiary)
Bullseye competitions, speed competitions etc. (feel free to input ideas)

Things to keep in mind, we will need volunteers to administer the contests.

Prizes (to be raffled or won in the contests)

George offered a Double star AR lower
I have 2 blackhawk slings and a NIB Smith and Wesson Flashlight I can offer
Alan offered a $100 Cableas gift card.

If anyone else has any items to offer up let me know. We can go over some stuff this Saturday after the shoot for those that are going.

Items for raffle is a good idea for items that have more value.
As to prizes for contest- if we are going to give prizes, then there should be an entry fee for each contest.

I am not sure of what I could contribute other than perhaps an AC tech's time to check out the AC unit. That and or some money.

I'll poke around the house and see what I have. I'm enough of an impulse buyer and pack rat that I should be able to find something.

Here's what I've kicked up so far. Got a Romanian AKM bayonet, with scabbard, insulator and leather frog. Also a brand new 12 gauge bore snake.

Heard about it on the radio. IIRC, it's restricted to charitable organizations, the ticket has to state clearly what the prizes are, and you can't raffle cash. But I'm going off memory of a news report, and we all know how reliable news reports are (not to mention my memory!)

Cruising findlaw right now, see what I can turn up.

Here, found it elsewhere. Texas Charitable Raffles Law Need to be a qualified (state-endorsed) charitable organization.

My personal feeling on matters like this is "**** the state", but if we do it, we need to do it smart, which means keeping it off the site. Nobody that shows up is going to care, but some state employee cruising the net (and yes, sites like ours get monitored) might put two and two together and through some miracle come up four.

It's scary how many ways there are to wind up in prison without actually doing anything wrong.

Selling food is illegal too without proper permitting ... quite honestly I think that the police have something better to do.

You going to be the police agency that nails a small raffle to help a person in financial hardtimes? It'd be a PR nightmare.

Just put that there will be prizes, and to be eligible you'll have to pony up $20.

Just like those police agencies that are raiding kids' lemonade stands?

Sure, they got something better to do... but easy targets are way safer.

So 20 dollars per ticket entry? That could work, food to be included with ticket and contest with prizes.
