Thought I'd post a few pics of my first Beretta 92fs duracoat job, turned out better than I expected!

Thanks! I did it myself. It is actually someone else's Beretta. I have duracoated guns for a couple years now. Starting with CZ 82s as my bread and butter. I did a CZ for this guy a year or so ago and he sent me the Beretta to do as well. You can see some pics of my work on my photobucket page:

Does duracoat have better adhesion than KG gunkote ? I have used KG on aluminum and it flaked a bit with use. Looks pretty cool.

High-Cap is correct, proper prep, along with allowing the piece to FULLY cure provides for a nice durable finish

That looks great. Kinda surprised the black is that nice... Can you post pics of the wear on the barrel after it's had a couple hundred rounds through it? Interested in how it wears.

let it cure for six weeks before carrying or shooting it or it will chip crack and wear real fast

Will do, the black is the HK Semi Gloss Black SL (self lubricating). The SL colors are a tad glossier than the regular colors. I will let you know how the barrel wears, that is a question I have as well as the barrel showed wear from it's contact with the slide. I didn't originally want to duracoat the barrel but the customer liked the color scheme so we are trying it out.

Will the cure time be less if you cure in oven? I am sure it will just wondering how long and at what temp does manufacture recommend?

+1 I am also curious to hear if you have to use a separate oven to cure these in?

curing

I do NOT use an oven to assist with curing. It is dry to the touch in 15 minutes and you can reassemble the gun in 24 hours but the gun does take 4-6 weeks to FULLY cure. The curing process has to do with the paint/hardener chemicals bonding and bonding to the firearm not just drying out. I know folks who use an oven and have not had problems with it.

Lauer also makes Durabake, comes in about 20 colors and sprays on and is baked in the oven and you're done:

My pistol barrels have Microslick on them... from the company that brought you Cerakote...

I have not done durability testing on them, but they should be sufficiently cured by the time Labor Day rolls around for my next trip to the ranch...
