I like the heavy birdshot but currently have buckshot in tube with more Buck and slugs on side saddle.

Might have to hit Academy tonight and see if they have any Federal heavy birdshot. My gun doesn't play well with Remington.

If I need the slugs, things are really bad. That's more for vehicle borne attacks.

2 3/4 00 buck. I keep federal vital shock in mine. For 20 I believe its #2 buck.

I've been keeping what's listed as " XX" for the 20, is that the same as #2 buck ?

and I spotted some 2 3/4 00 buck at Academy this morning, almost bought it

    thanks

This is a real debatable topic. Purists say go 00 Buck for stopping power but penetration of walls is a concern. Light bird shot is no good for actually physiologically fight stopping performance but either stops in walls or loses lots of energy. Lots of loads in between. #4 buckshot is kind of interesting.

I might be wrong in my thinking but what I've gotten so far is :

    - use 2 3/4" shells for more capacity
    - don't use slugs
    - thinking #4 thru #1 Buck Shot would be sufficient for HD

    ?

I've got a couple of boxes of 20ga, WWB XX magnum, 24 pellet #3 Buck but they're 3" - going to look for 2 3/4" to get that extra round in the gun

need to look for something similar for the 12ga

got a box of rifled slug HPs in 20ga but I really don't want to use those for HD

any good buckshot.. I'm much faster with my .45 ... My wife has the 12ga. with LE Low Recoil buck..

At home defense range with a 1-2" patern with a SG you have to be as accurate as a single bullet.. Yes theres much more stopping power but it ain't worth $hit if you don't hit.
