#2 or #4 birdshot doesn’t go through multiple walls and more than effective on the target.

I spoke with a retired DEA agent. He recommend #4. His accounts was that it was alot more effective then 00.

I spoke with the man alot. He knew many things. And he had pulled alot of triggers.

#4 birdshot or buckshot? There's a big difference. #4 buck has been a staple for decades and I have a hard time believing that any experienced agent would be recommending birdshot.

Back to being serious... I keep mine loaded with low recoil buck. Birdshot "should" be lethal at indoor distances, but I don't want to bet my life on it. The over penetration stuff is BS. Flesh and bone is actually harder to shoot through than your typical interior wall. If it's not going to go through a wall, then it's not going to go deep enough in a person. I would use cut shells or wax slugs before I'd use birdshot, and if you're going to use slugs then you should just get a carbine of some sort. About the only real advantage to shotguns for self defense is that they are affordable to everyone.

I have a small house. From my bedroom door to my recliner #8 shot would be extremely irritating at best.

Might as well use rock salt.
