Just picked up a Ruger American Ranch in 7.62x39. Won't be shooting over 300 yards and the round is what it is, so just going to throw something cheap on it. At Academy it looks to be between Vortex crossfire II, SIG Saur Whiskey 3, Redfield Rebel, and Burris Droptine.

What would you go with? Something I've
never heard of that's awesome? Bad experience with any?

Search Amazon for leupold sales. I scored my lvpo 1-6 new for 170 bucks at the time.

Man…what matters is the optic holds zero. I have a bushnell on my tc308. It’s rated for 308 and it’s held up just fine.

Don’t be that afraid of cheaper name brand.

I have had a few vortex crossfire scopes on rimfires. I think they are a great value. I'm not a scope snob though.

I’ve got the CZ version of that rifle and love it. Enjoy!

My shots around here are limited to 100, most less than that, and the cartridge is perfect for that.

I've broken every strike fire I've had. While vortex can make a good optic, their budget line isn't the place to look for it.

Leupold has some options in that price range

Do you really need magnification? Its 7.62x39 after all

I was impressed by the Athlon Neos rimfire scope I bought for my .22, though I haven't been able to play with it much. For $130, it's pretty darn nice. Maybe check out some of their budget centerfire scopes. They make a few centerfire versions of the Neos, and I think the other budget model is called the Talos. They're on Amazon.

Edit: Just saw you already bought a scope. It looks like a good one, you should be pretty happy with that.

The 17hmr of mine you shot has an Athlon scope on it. You can get those in mil dot for under $200.

I liked that scope, but too late. I'll keep it in mind for next time.

Went and shot it an hour after the scope showed up and tried some different ammo. Shot 5 shot groups at 50 yards. It loves Monarch and hates the expensive lead core wolf.

I just traded into an upper in 6mm ARC and it has a Burris Fullfield E1 4.5-14x42 on it. Amazon has these for $225. The glass is exceptionally clear and the reticle is as clear as it can be. Nicest glass on a budget scope I have seen in a long time.
