Since I am fairly new to reloading I tend to "run home to mama" so to speak, for some useful knowledge here at TGT. The question of the day...What C.O.L.s work best in your 1911. Personally, I just duplicate factory load specs. For ball rounds(230gr FMJ) I seat my bullets to a C.O.L. of 1.250". These consistently work well in my pistol and feed very reliably. Recently however, I picked up some hornady 200gr SWC FMJ bullets. These have a completely different shape and I wonder if I can maintain reliabilty with the same overall length. I hear these bullets are prized for their accuracy but if I can't make them shoot well I will be disappointed. For my first batch of 50 I made 5 sets of 10 rounds ea. at descending c.o.l.s ranging from 1.270 down to 1.250. Anyone with experience please let me know what works best for you. Please include bullet size, type and of course, C.O.L.s.
