Don't forget Mel's over by the tracks off 2978. Also, P.O.'s in Cypress makes an awesome burger. For the two-wheeled travelers, a good roadside stop is Yankee's Tavern in Carlos. Well, you could drive there too, but you'd probably be the only four-wheeler in the parking lot. ;)

For steak, I'd go to Saltgrass any day. As far as last meal, it would have to be one of the bacon cheese burgers with mayo from Aunt Bea's on Tidwell and 45. It's a small joint that's been there since god knows when...good food... and beinf open 24/7 doesn't hurt either. A group of us used to go after spending all night at the pool hall. Lemme tell ya, around 3 or 4 am, you see lots of wierd characters coming through that place.

Hey 308, someone told me the other day that Pecos was closing? Have you heard anything about it? Evidently the bypass has killed their business.

+1 on El Pelenque on 249 and Loueta, home of the $12 margarita, and after 1 you will know why!!!!

Koffee Kup in Hico; great CFS and best homemade pies. The Shed in Edom; another CFS place. Both rated in the Top Ten by Ride Texas Magazine. Then there's Jucy's in Longview for some of the best burgers you will ever find.

Way to many to list - Texas is rich with hole in the wall eateries that are great.
In Ft.Worth on Long Ave there is a place called Granny's Taco's and they are homemade. Everything is homemade.
Roasted pork with beans, steamed potatoes with cheeses and green Chile sauce. $4.50 buys you a 3lb taco.
On Fridays they have Mole to die for.
It's all take out, no dine in. The place is run out of an old garage on the north side.
Babes Chicken is awesome. The CFS and fried chicken are good but the veggies are out of this world.
Massey's in south FW is great and has some very good CFS.
There is Habinaro's in Mansfield that has some of the best breakfast tacos you will ever eat.
If grandma makes your tacos you get extra everything cause her hands shake so bad - LOL!!!!!
Hell I have to stop, I'm hungry now!

Any one ever tried Razoo's in Stafford? Very good seafood with a Cajun kick to it. Nothin like crawfish stuffed jalapenos and their "Gator Punch" which comes out in a huuuuuge fish bowl.

For Good, inexpensive home-style cooking, try Willie's Westaurant, (yeah with a "W"), in Quinlan, near Lake Tawakoni. They have darn near everything on the menu, daily specials, cheap prices, freindly staff, and no 30.06 signs!

For a bonus, if you had a "last meal" ... what would it be?

they had an episode of King of the Hill about this once...

but to answer your question, id have a big plate of some of my uncle Freddy's fried whitetail backstrap. he fixes it up real good. with some Valentina hot sauce(real cheap mescan stuff from H-E-B) with some Super Mercado tortillas. then a conveinance store honey bun.
