Most hunting only allows 2+1 rounds in the gun. I leave my extensions on and cut a wooden dowel (or something similiar) to block it off to only hold two rounds. Saves me having to swap parts all the time.

To pull a mini-hijack of the thread, I am looking for a +2 extension for an 870 20 ga. It is an Express model. Any ideas?

Get ready to drill out the plug stop in order to put on an extension... at least it's a high probability if it's a newer one. Wasn't difficult, but definitely time consuming to make sure you get it completely smooth, inside and out.

Don't see too many of those extensions around. I believe they do exist though.

And yes, with the Express models, be prepared to drill out the dimple by the threaded end of the mag tube.

I bought my 20ga 870 with a +2 extension but I don't know if it's a Remington part. Maybe try Midway USA because they have a lot for the 12ga.

I have considered the Choate, but the Express is matte finished and the Choate is blued. Just strikes me as odd to have the parts mismatched. I may end up going that route and add the (overpriced for capacity) Tac star 4 round side saddle. Why of why do they not make a 6 round 20 gauge side saddle?

Can drill them out or pound them smooth.

Bad guys won't see it or care - but if it bothers you, have the extension bead-blasted to match.

Velcro on the side of the receiver with tear-off cards holding the shells.
