BOTW has temporarily closed their long range shooting area.

I heard a rumor that it was because of issues with their neighbors. I have not dug any deeper.

Just wanting to save somebody a trip if you were planning on going there.

    Anybody have more info?

Talking to a guy at the Friends of NRA dinner in Georgetown last night, he texted the contractor that will be working at the range. Adding eyebrows and improving the berms. Hoping to reopen long range in October.

Anyone have an update on this topic?

Several months have passed and there is no further update on the website.

I asked at the front desk a month ago and received nothing but an angry "everything about a developer/permit/court-order is a lie, we are just doing a standard upgrade to the facility. we fired our range officers that said anything other than this". Quite a response for me just asking what the schedule for reopening was.....

    Just posted on their Facebook...

After nine years of operating, a developer has claimed rounds are leaving the rifle range and has resulted in a judge's order to temporarily close the rifle range. Contrary to some rumors, NO ONE has been injured.
We apologize and thank you for your understanding in this matter. We're doing our best to get the Rifle range reopened, however, we have no control in the growth surrounding the range.
Also, we want to thank all of you that have voiced your support and concern. We appreciate you all.

That explains why they got so defensive.

They could always build a fully-baffled range. For reference, this one is 200 meters.

Fairly close to major population centers, such installations could become the default due to encroachment everywhere. I wonder when we're going to start seeing these types of ranges built in Texas.
