I went to my local toysrus and saw the Black Friday crowd was in full force. I had my glock 27 on me and I started seeing people get aggressive. Although there were only a few minor scuffles nothing major. Who else is taking part in Black Friday and are you carrying?

I've worked retail and have yet to see a Black Friday deal that would be worth my time waiting in line for.
On top of that, the potential for crime or violence is just way to high and carrying is probably not going to help much. Even if you can draw in time to thwart something from happening, the potential for shooting a "non-combatant" is too great.

I'll hit a few stores this afternoon. Won't go into the big town where it's crazy, but stay on the outskirts and it's not bad. Wife and I ran to wally world this morning and had our choice of 2 different check out lanes with no line at all, just the cashier standing out in front asking if we were ready.

Online has much better deal days specials anytime theyre running special holiday discounts or what not. My buddy just picked up a bolt and charging handle for $89 and a complete lower non polymer but aluminum for $80 as well.

I was in and out of Best Buy in 20 minutes last night. Not in a big city like Houston though so things are a little more tame. As always, carry when and where its legal to do so.

I went to best buy to "escort" my sister since she was getting a TV. The crowd was very well behaved. Then, I went to sears to pick up a few tools. The crowd was not only well behaved, but a lot of guys were willing to work as a team. I was very impressed.

I was packing a full size 1911. I'm heading out again right now-again, carrying.

A person that is a true master of the best defense, avoidance, doesn't participate in Black Friday shopping. It's like going to the Whataburger at 2:00am on a Friday night in the ghetto...you're just asking for trouble. It's not worth it, especially if anything actually happens, and the ensuing legal/financial trouble you will be subjected to as a result, all for what...saving a few dollars on some meaningless junk?

I agree with some of the posters on here that you need to weigh the risks of placing yourself in a possible bad situation just to save a few dollars but that said I did go out this morning. I waited outside of Cabela's. At least there I felt quite a bit safer than at bestbuy or any others because I bet there were as many (if not more) concealed handguns in line as there were Carhartt jackets.

I think alot of that is geographical though and alot worse around the big cities. Like I said, I stopped into Best Buy last night and the aisles weren't clogged with people nor were the lines exceptionally long. I walked in, went to the computer monitors and tv's, grabbed 2 and was checked out in less than 20 minutes of getting there. This was after they had already been open for a little while around 8 p.m. I don't bother going to a store if the savings will be a few dollars, but when you're talking hundreds or thousands? Its a consideration at that point. Last year I bought $3000 worth of stuff for about $1200...thats sizeable enough to matter to me. I don't go to sketchy neighborhoods and am still aware of my surroundings but there's a limit to my paranoia and I can't just shut myself inside all of the time.

Not all black friday shopping is like you hear about in the news. Avoid early morning openings, walmart, kmart, toys r us, and shopping in the bad part of town and you'll be just fine. Going with a shopping buddy helps as well.

I carry everywhere I lawfully can, regardless of black friday or not.

My wife and mother love to go black friday shopping. In all the years we have been, we have yet to see anything like the show on the news. Even in some of the more "ghetto" stores we have been to people have been very well behaved. My wife and I always carry.

    Where legal.

This. I was watching a video compilation of Black Friday (that's racist!) insanity and thinking that these people are acting like they're starving and there's only a couple boxes of Pop Tarts left inside the store, and for what? A "deal" on some worthless shit that's going to be forgotten in a landfill in a few short years...?

    No thanks.

In general, I avoid shopping trips of any kind after 10/31. Not because it's unsafe, but because the "holiday season" brings out the total asshole in people, and on top of that I can't stand the music.
