Don't we have enough laws "for your own good". This one falls right there in the same barrel. People who aren't adult enough to tell the doctor they are paying to "How does that relate to your health concerns?" or "It's really none of your business" probably aren't really adult enough to use guns responsibly.

I agree. Simply asking the doctor to please focus on my healthcare and not my hobbies is often enough. You always have the right to fire your doctor if you don't like the level of service you receive

What you are failing to comprehend is that these questionnaires ultimately are used to comprise lists of gun owners. Giving a wise ass answer, while amusing, gets you put on a list as well.

Just block the cocksuckers from even asking.

I agree, since my Doctor is one who invites me to the range!!!! I'll never understand why people seem to have trouble saying It's none Ya.

Two weeks ago I went to see my Doc. When I took off my shirt he noticed the empty holster on my belt (the clinic of course is a gun free zone) he asked me what I carried, I told him and he said that his carry choice was a Glock 19. After he completed his examination we had a short conversation about the relative merits of conventional DA/SA pistols vs striker fire. I somehow doubt that he will be passing any information on to "big brother".

I'd probably just say "no" too. Don't really have this concern as my GP doc has a 'relaxing hobby' of building 1911s!

A few years back, my Dr. asked me if I knew of any good gunsmiths in town. His BIL had jammed a .222 into the Dr.'s 22-250 or something along those lines. Now I'm wondering if that was a trick question.

The last doctor I saw was a surgeon who cut a mass out of the base of my scull.

He did it all while I was under local anesthesia.

Doc says to me, o.k., I'm going to make a little cut now, you won't feel any pain, but a little bit of pressure and lots of warm fluids running down your neck ... little did I know that it was my blood at the time.

Anyways, as the Surgeon was probing around the base of my skull, he asked me if I hunted. Not knowing if this was a trick question, I asked him what he hunted.

Doc says he likes to chase pussy and slay White Tails in the Hill Country.

When he finished digging into my noggin, he left and had his assistant stitch me up.

    Never saw that Dog again.

    Be well.

Why fret over what the doctor thinks? He/she is your employee!

The last time I went to see my doctor, I chewed his ass for keeping a whole room of patients for nearly 2 hours before he arrived. Unfortunately, that was his standard procedure. He said that he was sorry. I replied that if he was really sorry, he'd stop doing that!

You set the pace and the rules.....not the doctor.

    Heh.
I went to a dermatologist about 8 years ago.
    Got the same "wait".
After I explained my history and exposure, she stated "soon, you'll be one of our best customers ".
I let her know that my time was just as important as hers, and I wouldn't be back.
    Appointment has a clear meaning.

I'm not sure if you can blame the doctors when they are often pressured by institutes like the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Pediatricians. They say that it's no different then asking if there are smokers in the house especially when children are in the home, yet more children die at home from drowning many times over then from guns, and they never ask if you have a tub in your home.

So therefore, yes, I believe more states like Florida and Montana should pass laws prohibiting doctors (other than psychiatrists) from asking about guns.

Yep. Many of those medical organizations have become overtly politicized. One of the aims of ObammyCAIR was to 'deem' firearm ownership a health issue and then HHS would start regulating them. It is one (of many) reasons that monstrosity needs to be repealed in its entirety. One of the reasons many of their docs started asking about firearms ownership was to create a load of data. They'd either draw their own conclusion from it, or more likely just say "if we only had a little more power, we could prevent all these horrible deaths!"

I had a specialist start on an anti-2A diatribe that sounded like he was reading off a Bloomturd teleprompter. I'd never mentioned them or anything, he just went off. I never saw that doc again.

Agreed. I would be ok if the law mandated no negative repercussions for not answering any question related to firearm ownership (or more broadly any question in this day when any answer will be held FOREVER and can be dug up against you), but it specifically prohibits the question. I'd prefer the government stayed out of it, as a general philosophy.
