    Texas of course
Well, I finally took a knife to my SW1911PD and bobtailed it. Overall I'm pretty happy with it. Got a custom set of wood grips on order for it. This was my first attempt at something like this and I admitt I was scared at first but once I got started it wasn't that bad. I just lined up the Ed Brown mainspring housing, marked the frame, cut with dremel, used a drill press for the holes and finished with a fine file.

Very nice job. I could never try that as my skills in those areas are weak at best! I am buying a new 1911 and the bobtail might just swing me from a Baer to a Brown. How much difference does it make for CCW in your experience?

Thanks guys. Like I said I was pretty scared myself but I like to tinker so I figure what the hell. I haven't carried it yet, the grips I have on it now are too think (they have palm swells) so I'm waiting till I get my custom slim grips it.
